April is Autism Awareness Month: How Applied Behavioral Analysis Can Help

Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), can seem mysterious and often misunderstood. The advocacy organization Autism Speaks generally defines ASD as “a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.”

Charting a Path to Prevention: Stress and Its Influence

Stress can  be experienced on many different levels and be difficult to define. The American Institute of Stress offers an explanation of stress as “a physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension.”  It can be as temporary as an overwhelming day juggling work and family, to a longer-term manifestation of physical symptoms such as headaches or back pain.

Financial Literacy: Keeping it Simple

April is also Financial Literacy Month and a good time to boost your financial IQ. Some of the terminology around finances, like 401K, Roth contributions, 529 plan, company matching contribution, and dividends—just to name a few—can be intimidating and keep many of us from creating financial goals and jumping in to invest for the future. But it’s never too late to learn and get started.
