A Mid-Year Financial Wellness Check-Up

Wellness

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2026? While many people use January to set financial goals, a quick financial wellness review now can help you avoid surprises later while ensuring you’re making the most of your employer benefits. So pick a day when it’s too hot for outdoor work or play and take an hour or two to review:

  • 401k contributions
  • Emergency savings progress
  • HSA/FSA balances
  • Insurance coverage

401(k) Retirement Contributions

Are you contributing enough to receive the full employer match? Consider whether increasing your contribution by even 1% or 2% is possible. Small increases make an impact over time – take advantage of Fidelity’s Calculator to see what a difference it can make.

Emergency Savings

If you’re still building toward that recommended 3-6 months of your emergency savings, don’t get discouraged. Instead, look at your progress so far and see if there’s any new room in your monthly cash flow to increase your contribution. If you haven’t already, consider setting up automatic transfers to the savings account.

Health Benefits

If you're enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), now is a great time to review your balance and spending activity.

For HSA participants, are you on track to meet your savings goals for future healthcare expenses? If you're not on track, remember that you can change your HSA contribution amount at any time. Simply log in to your benefits account at yourtransoceanbenefits.com to update your contribution.

For FSA participants, check your remaining balance and familiarize yourself with any deadlines for using funds. Planning ahead can help you avoid leaving money unspent at the end of the plan year.

Even though FSA contributions and insurance coverage selections cannot be changed during the year unless you experience a qualifying life event, this is a good opportunity to start thinking about any adjustments you’d like to make during your next Annual Enrollment period.

Other Considerations

If you’ve experienced a life change such as marriage, divorce, the birth or adoption of a child, or a change in employment status, consider whether your current medical, dental, vision, life,  or other insurance coverage still meets your needs. Double-check your beneficiaries, emergency contacts, and other benefits information to ensure they are all up to date.

And, don’t forget other insurance types such as homeowners and automobile – or maybe there’s a new pet in the house that needs protection. Can you lower the insurance on a recently paid-off vehicle, or take a defensive driving course to qualify for a lower rate? Do your selected deductibles still make sense? Cover your bases by checking for insurance deals in the Transocean Discount Marketplace* (CODE: KWVC9V).

A mid-year financial check-up doesn't need to take long, but it can increase your confidence as we march toward year’s end.

* Please note that the products and services available through the Discount Marketplace are offered by third-party providers and are not endorsed, recommended, or individually vetted by Transocean. Be sure to review each offering carefully to determine whether it meets your needs.
