New Benefits to Help Navigate Paths to Parenthood
Wellness
At Transocean, we support all paths to parenthood and recognize the unique challenges that come with adoption and surrogacy. Effective January 1, we introduced some new benefits to help relieve the financial obstacles to becoming a parent through adoption and surrogacy.
You’re eligible for adoption and surrogacy benefits from the first day you join Transocean if you are a full-time, regular U.S. employee.
If you’re eligible for benefits, Transocean will reimburse up to $20,000 of eligible adoption or surrogacy expenses, including:
- Agency fees
- Legal expenses
- Surrogate compensation
- IVF medical costs related to surrogacy
- Surrogate medical expenses
- Necessary related travel
Once you’ve been approved for benefits, you will receive your reimbursement within two to three payroll periods after submitting your application with the required receipts.
Important Tax Considerations
Reimbursement of expenses under these programs may be taxable. Please review the information carefully and seek tax advice before submitting expenses for reimbursement. Also, unlike most other reimbursements, Transocean is not required to withhold federal income tax from reimbursements under the Adoption Program. If you are required to account for any of these reimbursements as part of your income, your withholding may not be enough to cover the tax on these. Please consult a tax advisor on any potential tax implications.
