Webinar Wisdom
Wellness
Webinars provide convenient access to experts without additional cost or travel time. They also allow participation for those working from home or confined due to illness, injury, or caregiving duties. Webinar planners and hosts have a responsibility to make the session as engaging and informative as possible, but they control only part of the experience – the rest is up to you.
Define your goal
Are you there to simply gain more information, or do you want to learn how to take concrete action or find personal or professional opportunities? Understanding what you want and hope to get out of a webinar helps you prepare your next step.
Prepare your questions
Some of your questions may be answered during the webinar, so you can simply check those off. Conversely, you may come up with new ones based on the webinar information. Be prepared by writing/typing them down (or recording them) so you can submit follow-up questions later or in the chat room, if allowed. Ask to see the agenda prior to the webinar to help formulate your questions in advance.
Pre-check your technology
Don’t miss out because you couldn’t get your videoconferencing application to work. Test it out beforehand.
Take notes
Even if the webinar is being recorded, access may only be granted for a certain time period. Record the important points that grabbed your attention through your own notetaking.
