Spring is a great time to focus on the importance of making good food choices and developing better eating habits. With so many new diet programs and conflicting reports on what’s healthy and what’s not, where do you begin?

My Plate is a simple way to get started. It’s a visual guide developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and a team of registered dietitian nutritionists to learn about the food groups you should include in your daily diet and how to portion foods from the groups when you fill your own plate.

Visit ChooseMyPlate.gov and use the interactive tools to explore each of the five food groups. Learn what’s included in each group, how much of each group you should include each time you eat, and how you need to adjust those portions based on your age, lifestyle, or health status. You can even find recipes, download cookbooks, and create your own online healthy-eating cookbook.
