Your Benefits at Work: Cancer Support Services
Wellness
This year, an estimated 1.9 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone, according to the American Cancer Society. But survival rates continue to improve for most types of cancer due to investments in research, earlier detection and new therapies. Cancer patients with a strong support system are experiencing a better quality of life as they navigate the health care system and treatment.
If you or a loved one receives a cancer diagnosis, your Transocean benefits provide support and guidance so that you don’t have to make the cancer journey alone.
Want a Second Opinion?
Getting a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming—and scary. Sometimes getting a second opinion on your diagnosis, treatment plan or procedure can bring added peace of mind by allowing you to gather more information and learn about different care options before starting care.
If you need advice or a second opinion, Transocean offers 2nd.MD, a resource that provides personalized video consultations with top physicians who specialize in your condition and work at premier medical institutions. This program is confidential, fast and provided at no cost to you and your dependents who are enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare (UHC) medical plan. Appointments can typically be scheduled within a week.
Here’s how you get a second opinion through the 2nd.MD program:
1. Request a consultation by visiting www.2nd.MD/transocean or by calling 866-269-3534.
2. Review your diagnosis and discuss your medical questions with a 2nd.MD nurse, who coordinates with the specialist reviewing your case.
3. Consult with a top medical specialist—either by phone or video conference—at a time that is convenient for you.
Once you’ve met with the specialist, you’ll receive a written summary of the second opinion that you can share with your treating physician.

Take Advantage of UHC’s Cancer Support Services
Once a patient’s care plan is finalized, it’s good to have ongoing guidance during treatment to help manage both emotionally and physically—and to have a resource when questions come up. Your Transocean medical plan, administered by UHC, provides this care through its Cancer Support Program.
Staffed with specialized cancer nurses, this resource offers one-on-one coaching and education for both adult and pediatric patients and is especially beneficial to those considered high-risk for complications and side effects associated with their cancer or treatment.
UHC’s cancer nurses can help by:
• Assisting with symptom management and reinforcing your treatment plan.
• Providing education and support around your diagnosis and treatment.
• Partnering with social workers and other resources to support you and your caregivers’ clinical and psychological needs.
• Answering your questions that come up during treatment.
Support That Comes to You
