Charting a Path to Prevention: Safe Guidelines for Venturing Out

Wellness

Many stores, restaurants, and personal services will begin to open in the coming weeks and months. As they do, they’re each altering how they do business to follow local guidelines. However, it’s still up to you to be sure you stay safe and are comfortable with any risks you’ll be taking as you venture out.

Here are a few tips to consider:

Plan Ahead

Because each location is managing the situation differently, be sure to check websites or social media, so you show up prepared. That may mean bringing a mask, hand sanitizer, or downloading an app to check-in or order for curbside delivery.

Wash Up

As a nation, we all need to get better at washing our hands– more regularly and for more extended periods. As you resume public life, remember to refrain from handshakes and keep touching surfaces to a minimum. Then, remember to wash up when you return home. If that’s not possible, carry a little hand sanitizer to wash up on the go.

Less Face Time

Face time is one of the most essential parts of staying safe as you venture out. Here are three ways less face time can help:

  • Social distancing doesn’t mean you can’t meet face-to-face. It just means you need to do it from a safe distance of 6 feet or more.
  • Showing less of your face by wearing a mask also helps to keep germ spread to a minimum.
  • And, remember your hands also need less face time – keep them from touching your nose, eyes, and mouth to prevent germ spread from entering your system from your touch.
